THE HISTORY

The Gelateria del Palma in Via della Maddalena 19/23 was born in the distant May of 1978, by the will of Claudio Patasini, creator and undisputed architect of the success of this historic ice cream parlor in the historical center of Rome. The tradition and quality that today the ice cream Shop of the palm can boast are not born by chance, and have Origin well before its founder exercised so successfully its activity.

The origins

The origins of the palm tree, in fact, sink their roots in the family genealogy of Claudio Patasini, who has always made the artisan production a cornerstone. In the early 1900, Stefano Barberini, grandfather of Claudio Pataxini, opening a dairy in the building of Palazzo Pitti Blanche, a few steps from the Capitol and Piazza Venezia, began organizing a distribution of fresh milk at home, whose Production declined soon in the logic of its derivatives, such as: butter, cream, cheese and not least the ice cream.

From New York
to the present

From hard work and strong family passion, Claudio Pataxini has inherited a natural talent towards the artisan production of gelato, declining it in an incomparable offer of tastes (more than 150 flavours), both for quality and quantity, within the Own ice cream parlor.

The palm represents today the point of arrival of a long journey, which thanks to its success has seen open offices also in New York, Los Angeles, and in Costarica.

As the latter’s demand grew, the family company decided to invest its resources and time almost exclusively in the production of homemade gelato, thus articulating an increasingly complete range of tastes, where the most Exclusives still today are appreciated by the most discerning palates. The fruit of these efforts culminated in the creation of a small workshop, managed by Albina Barberini, mother of Claudio Patasini, who with his work supplied ice cream, hotels, restaurants, and entire families.

To this day…

We have arrived far away, starting recently, and our secret is always the same: the love for our work.
