THE HISTORY

The Gelateria Della Palma in Via della Maddalena 19/23 was founded in May 1978 by Claudio Patassini. Creator and undisputed inventor of the success of this historic gelateria in the historical centre of Rome. Traditions and quality which today the DELLA PALMA gelateria can boast are not born by coincidence, but originate long before its founder started his activity with great success.

The origins

The origins of PALMA, is rooted in the family genealogy of Claudio Patassini, who has always made the craft production its cornerstone. In early 1900, Stefano Barberini, grandfather of Claudio Patassini, opened a milk factory in the building of Palazzo Pitti Blanche, a few steps from the Capitol and Piazza Venezia, began by organizing a distribution of fresh milk to homes, the production of which was soon focused on the logic of its products, such as: butter, cream, cheese and last but not least, ice cream.

to the present

Through the hard work and the strong family passion, Claudio Patassini has inherited a real talent for the production of handmade ice cream, developing it into an unique offer of flavours (over 150 flavours), in both quality and quantity, within his own ice cream shop.

DELLA PALMA is now the result of a long journey that, due to its success, has also opened offices in New York, Los Angeles and Costa Rica

With the growing popularity of the ice cream, the family business decided to invest their resources and time almost completely into the production of handmade ice cream, creating an increasingly complete assortment of flavours, where the most exclusive recipes are still valued by the most demanding gourmets today. As a result of these efforts, was created a small workshop managed by Albina Barberini, mother of Claudio Patassini, who supplied ice cream, to hotels, restaurants and families.

The Gelateria del Palma in Via della Maddalena 19/23 was born in the distant May of 1978, by the will of Claudio Patasini, creator and undisputed architect of the success of this historic ice cream parlor in the historical center of Rome. The tradition and quality that today the ice cream Shop of the palm can boast are not born by chance, and have Origin well before its founder exercised so successfully its activity.

From hard work and strong family passion, Claudio Pataxini has inherited a natural talent towards the artisan production of gelato, declining it in an incomparable offer of tastes (more than 150 flavours), both for quality and quantity, within the Own ice cream parlor.

The palm represents today the point of arrival of a long journey, which thanks to its success has seen open offices also in New York, Los Angeles, and in Costarica.

As the latter’s demand grew, the family company decided to invest its resources and time almost exclusively in the production of homemade gelato, thus articulating an increasingly complete range of tastes, where the most Exclusives still today are appreciated by the most discerning palates. The fruit of these efforts culminated in the creation of a small workshop, managed by Albina Barberini, mother of Claudio Patasini, who with his work supplied ice cream, hotels, restaurants, and entire families.
